Meet Julie

Hi All! Thank you for visiting The Cedar Chest . My name is Julie, I am so glad you’re here. I live in rural North Dakota with my husband and son. I work at our community bank full time and Nate owns & operates a bar & grill.

Named after my favorite place to play dress up (my grandma’s cedar chest), The Cedar Chest was born out of an idea to pursue a big dream while still living in rural ND. I have loved clothes & fashion and the story it can tell for as long as I can remember. I used to dream of being a fashion designer until I realized that I could use the stronger side of my brain and go into fashion merchandising. So that’s what I did. I moved to “the big city” and spent 4 years studying all things fashion. Love brought me back to North Dakota so I put all of my fashion dreams on hold. I quickly rediscovered my love of small towns and quiet rural life and knew that this is where we are meant to be.

Part of my dream with this business is showing women that its ok to go from dirty boots and ripped jeans to 4" heels and a mini-dress or anything in between. I believe that your wardrobe is an extension of who you are but that doesn't have to be the same person all the time. I love pieces that can be easily worn in a town of 600 or 6 million.
